From an Instagram Reel to a Concert Seat ðŸŽ¶

The screen at Kaber Vasuki’s Frangipani tour concert in Mutiara Damansara.

Medusa sent me a reel on Instagram.

I heard the song once, watched the video and moved on. I didn’t think much about it afterwards.

Then it kept appearing on my feed.

This time, I paid more attention. I started listening to the words, and slowly, I found myself liking it.

The song was Frangipani by Kaber Vasuki.

Somewhere between that first reel and listening again, I became interested enough to go to his concert.

And yes, I went alone. 😄

On 27 June 2026, I was at Bentley Music Auditorium in Mutiara Damansara for his Frangipani tour. A song I had casually scrolled past had brought me there.

Funny how that happens.

Frangipani tells a personal story about his friend Nila, her passing and the memories that remain. One small moment sits at the heart of it: she gives him a frangipani flower and asks him to remember her whenever he sees one.

That stayed with me. Something as ordinary as seeing a flower could bring someone back to your mind.

There’s one part of the song I especially love. It’s in Tamil, but this is how I understand it in English:

She isn’t a saint—who among us is? Yet, for a man living in darkness, no one brings comfort quite like her.

Someone doesn’t have to be perfect to mean so much to us.

We know they’re human. They have their flaws, just as we have ours. Still, there can be something about them that brings us comfort in a way we find difficult to explain.

Those were the words I kept thinking about.

And hearing Frangipani live was a completely different experience.

His voice. The meaning of the words. The atmosphere in the room.

All three.

I had liked the song on my phone, but being there and hearing him perform it gave me another reason to remember it.

I took photographs and recorded a little of the evening. I’m glad I have those to look back on, especially the video. It lets me revisit a small part of what I heard that night.

A little of the evening, recorded from my seat. 🎶

I went alone, and I’m happy I went.

Sometimes you hear something you like, find out there’s a concert and decide to turn up. You don’t know beforehand which moment you’ll still be talking about afterwards.

For me, it was Frangipani.

And to think it started with someone sending me a reel. 😊🎶

Just here.
