We went to Sungai Tua in Ulu Yam for a team day out.
A waterfall, BBQ, ice-breaking activities and a mini reunion. Some colleagues brought their spouses and children too. It was nice to see everyone away from the office for once.
And apparently, a few people discovered something about me that day. 😄
Some thought I was married. Others were surprised to see me joking around because I’m not always the most jovial person at work.
I had to tell them: I’m still single.
At the office, we’re there to work. I don’t talk much about my personal life, and most people know me as the HR guy. But after 6 pm, I’m just a normal, casual man. There is another side of me outside work.
I enjoyed seeing that side of my colleagues too.
We talked about their families, their lives and things that don’t usually come up between meetings. With the children and spouses there, it felt less like a work event and more like a day spent getting to know each other.
We ate, joined in the activities, spent time by the water and took plenty of pictures. I was happy to put the work conversations aside and enjoy being there with everyone.
I came home with photos of the waterfall and the BBQ. I also came home knowing my colleagues a little better.
And now they know I’m single. 😄
