We had visited different places along the way. But in Kashi, we reached the reason behind this family journey.
Appaβs seventh-year prayers.
That morning, we performed the prayers together. Seven years since Appa left us, and here we were, remembering him in Kashi.
I donβt want to rush past that part just to tell you where we went next. This was why we had come to India as a family. It deserves its own place in the story.

Later that night, we went to watch the Ganga aarti.
Looking through my photographs now, I can follow the evening arriving. The buildings along the river, boats near the steps, the grey sky and lights beginning to reflect on the water.

There are little details from Kashi too. A cow in the street. A doorway I stopped to photograph. Shrines along the way.

You know me. Even when Iβm going somewhere, something else catches my eye. ππΈ
But the photograph I keep returning to is the one of our hands holding the little lamps, with flowers gathered around the flames.

A simple picture. One that belongs with this day.
We began the morning with prayers for Appa and ended the evening watching the Ganga aarti. When I look back at our time in Kashi, I want to remember those two moments together.
And that we were there as a family.
Appa, this part of the journey was for you. πβ€οΈ
Just here.
