Last year, I travelled to Shirdi.
During that trip, we decided to visit Dwarka in Gujarat as well.
My first time in Dwarka.
Iβd heard about it through the stories of Lord Krishna, so I was happy to finally visit for myself.
Another place to explore. Another temple to visit.
And, of course, more photographs to take. π
Before Entering the Temple π
We were heading towards Dwarkadhish Temple around 7:45 AM when I stopped for this view.
The orange sun above the water. Birds flying in the distance. A golden reflection across the surface.
Beautiful.
Naturally, I took out my phone. π
There I was, in Dwarka for the first time, watching the sunrise before my first darshan of Lord Krishna.
Not a bad way to begin the morning. β€οΈ

I Kept Looking Up
As we walked towards the temple, its tall stone tower came into view.
The carvings. The different levels. The colourful flag flying above it.
I kept looking up.
I enjoy visiting temples for the prayers, but I also spend quite a bit of time admiring the architecture.
How did they build all this with so much detail?
I think I took several photographs of the same tower from different angles. π
But look at it.
How could I not?

My First Darshan π
The temple was crowded.
Devotees everywhere, waiting for their opportunity to have darshan.
And I was one of them.
When I finally stood before Lord Krishna, I saw Him beautifully adorned with jewellery.
I felt blessed to be there.
This trip had brought me to Shirdi, and now here I was inside Dwarkadhish Temple for the very first time.
I offered my prayers and took in the moment.
I know how I felt standing there. Putting it into words afterwards is a little harder.
But perhaps the simplest way to say it is this:
I was happy I came.
Happy I got to see Him.
And grateful I could offer my prayers. β€οΈ

A Little More of Dwarka
After darshan, there was still plenty around me to look at.
The entrance gateway. The streets. People going about their day. Other devotees making their way towards the temple.
I took photographs of those things too.
When I look through my gallery later, I like having a little of the surroundings along with the temple itself.
It helps me remember being there.

Iβm glad we included Dwarka in our journey.
My first morning there gave me a sunrise worth stopping for, architecture I couldnβt stop photographing, and a darshan I felt blessed to have.
Thatβs how I remember it.
Simply lovely. β€οΈ
Just here.
