A Journey Three Years in the Making: My Arupadai Veedu Pilgrimage

    πŸ™ Arupadai Veedu Pilgrimage Series

Some journeys begin with a plan.

    Others begin with a dream.

For me, completing the Arupadai Veedu pilgrimage had been a dream for the past three years.

Every year, I would think about visiting the six sacred abodes of Lord Murugan. I would read about them, watch videos, and tell myself that one day I would make the journey. But somehow, it never happened.

There always seemed to be an obstacle.

    Sometimes it was timing.

Sometimes it was work and responsibilities.

Sometimes things simply didn’t fall into place.

Looking back now, I don’t see those moments as setbacks. In fact, I believe the journey wasn’t meant to happen then. It wasn’t my calling at that time.

Perhaps Lord Murugan was waiting for the right moment.

    Then came August 2026.

Without overthinking it, I made the decision.

    I was going.

What surprised me was how quickly everything started falling into place once that decision was made.

    Flight tickets were booked.

    Travel plans started taking shape.

A friend helped me with transportation arrangements.

I changed my currency and sorted out the essentials.

One by one, everything that had seemed difficult over the previous three years suddenly became easy.

The more I prepared, the more excited I became.

At the same time, there was a sense of gratitude in my heart.

Because what I had hoped to do for years was finally becoming a reality.

Before I knew it, the departure date had arrived.

I was on my way to Chennai.

Sitting on the flight, I found myself thinking about how long I had waited for this journey.

    It felt surreal.

For three years, the Arupadai Veedu pilgrimage had been something I hoped to do “one day.”

Now, that day had finally arrived.

    This wasn’t just another trip.

    It wasn’t a holiday.

    It wasn’t about sightseeing.

    It was a spiritual journey.

    A journey of faith.

    A journey of gratitude.

A journey that would take me across Tamil Nadu to visit the six sacred abodes of Lord Murugan, each with its own history, significance, and spiritual experience.

As the aircraft moved closer to Chennai, I felt a mixture of excitement, anticipation, and calmness.

I didn’t know exactly what experiences awaited me.

I didn’t know what lessons I would learn.

But I knew I was ready.

Sometimes, we spend years trying to make something happen.

Then one day, when the time is right, everything seems to fall into place.

That is exactly how this pilgrimage began for me.

Looking back now, I truly believe everything happens for a reason.

The delays, the obstacles, and the waiting were all part of the journey.

Perhaps I wasn’t being denied the opportunity.

Perhaps I was simply being prepared for it.

And so, with a grateful heart and an open mind, my Arupadai Veedu pilgrimage began.

  • The Story Behind Beyond The Horizon

The Story Behind Beyond The Horizon

If someone had told me a few years ago that I would one day start a travel blog, I probably wouldn’t have believed them.

The truth is that I never planned to become a blogger. I didn’t have a content strategy, a writing plan, or a goal of becoming a travel writer. In fact, the idea never even crossed my mind.

I enjoyed traveling, taking photographs, and collecting memories, but those moments were usually kept to myself. They lived in photo albums, on my phone, or in conversations with family and friends.

Then someone close to me suggested something that would eventually change everything. She told me that instead of keeping these experiences to myself, I should start writing about them.

At first, I wasn’t convinced. I remember thinking, who would want to read about my travels? I wasn’t a professional traveler. I wasn’t visiting exotic destinations every month. I was simply someone trying to explore the world a little more than before.

But she believed that the stories, experiences, photographs, and reflections were worth sharing. Looking back now, I’m grateful that she did.

Because starting this blog has given me something I never expected. It has allowed me to relive my journeys in a different way.

Every time I write about a destination, whether it’s a sunset in Raglan, a peaceful moment at Trimbakeshwar, a day of seva in Shirdi, or a quiet hike through nature, I get to revisit those memories again.

What started as a simple suggestion has become a personal journal of my experiences, thoughts, photographs, and lessons learned along the way.

The name Beyond The Horizon felt right from the beginning. For me, it represents curiosity. It represents looking beyond what is familiar.

It represents taking that extra step, whether that’s visiting a new destination, walking a new trail, experiencing a different culture, or simply seeing life from a different perspective.

The horizon is something you can see but never quite reach. The closer you get, the more there is to discover.

That is how I see travel.

Every journey leads to another story.

    Every experience teaches something new.

Every destination reveals a different perspective.

What means the most to me is knowing that people are actually reading these stories.

One comment that has stayed with me was from someone who said:

“I’m vicariously living those experiences through the blog.”

When I read that, I smiled.

Because that is exactly what I hoped this blog would do.

Not just document where I’ve been, but allow others to experience the journey alongside me.

So if you’re reading this, thank you.

Thank you for taking the time to follow my adventures, reflections, photographs, and stories.

And most importantly, thank you to the person who first encouraged me to start writing them.

Without that encouragement, Beyond The Horizon may never have existed.

And this story would never have been written.
