    ⏰ Approximately 2 hours

I decided to hike Bukit Senaling for one reason. I wanted to experience the famous sea of clouds, or as many hikers call it, the “carpet cloud.” To catch it, we had to start early. Very early. At around 4.30 in the morning, we began our climb in darkness, relying on our headlamps and determination.

What looked like a simple hike on paper turned into a challenging experience. It had rained previously, making parts of the trail muddy and slippery. The forest was dense. The trail felt endless at times. And there were moments when I questioned whether the climb was worth it.

Looking back now, I can laugh about one important lesson.

Always eat before a hike. πŸ˜„

That morning, the muddy trail and my empty stomach made the climb feel much longer than I expected. I had come for the sea of clouds, so I kept going. Reaching the top felt good, partly for the view and partly because I had almost talked myself out of it along the way.

⛰️ Gunung Angsi: The Hike That Changed My Perspective

Gunung Angsi will always hold a special place in my memory. It was my first mountain hike. Before that day, hiking was simply something I was curious about. I had seen photos. I had heard stories. But I had never truly experienced a mountain climb for myself.

Standing at the base of Gunung Angsi, I remember feeling excited. But I also remember feeling uncertain. The mountain looked huge. The trail seemed long. And like many first-time hikers, I found myself wondering whether I could actually make it to the summit.

As the climb continued, the doubts slowly faded. I found myself surrounded by nature. Towering trees. Fresh air. Beautiful skies. And a sense of calm that is difficult to describe.

I had wondered at the base whether I could reach the summit. As I kept climbing, that question grew quieter. I still did not know what the rest of the trail would be like, but I was there, walking through it.

At the summit, I was glad I had given myself a chance. It was my first mountain hike, and I had made it despite my doubts at the start. I came away wanting to see what else I might be capable of.

    Looking Back

Bukit Senaling taught me to keep going when the trail became harder than I expected. Gunung Angsi, my first mountain hike, taught me to give myself a chance before deciding I could not make it. I came home with photographs from both hikes, but I remember how I felt on those climbs just as clearly. πŸ₯ΎπŸŒΏβœ¨

A mountain never asks whether we are strong enough to climb it.

The real question is whether we believe we are.
